Solar panels and aerothermal in the Penedès
Photovoltaic self-consumption and heat pumps with complete paperwork handling: study, installation, legalisation and management of Next Generation and ICAEN subsidies with the Generalitat.
How much do solar panels cost in the Penedès?
A residential photovoltaic installation in the Alt Penedès costs between €4,500 and €9,000 before subsidies, depending on power (3–6 kWp) and roof type. With grants and municipal property-tax rebates, payback is typically 5 to 7 years.
The Alt Penedès is particularly good territory for photovoltaics: around 1,500 kWh/m² of annual irradiation, above the European average. Our preliminary study uses your real consumption from your bills, not generic estimates, and includes a month-by-month savings simulation.
What does our full paperwork service include?
We manage everything: feasibility study, sizing, panel and inverter installation, monitoring, legalisation with the industry authority, surplus-compensation registration with the utility, and subsidy applications.
Grants change often — Next Generation programmes, ICAEN calls from the Generalitat, and municipal IBI and ICIO rebates that vary by town — and the paperwork puts many people off. Our job is that you do none of it: we tell you which grants apply in your municipality and file them on your behalf.
Photovoltaics alone vs. photovoltaics with aerothermal
Quick answer: if you also need to renew your heating or hot water, combining panels with an aerothermal heat pump multiplies the savings, because the heat pump runs on the electricity you produce yourself.
| Criterion | Photovoltaics only | Photovoltaics + aerothermal |
|---|---|---|
| Indicative investment | €4,500–€9,000 | €13,000–€22,000 |
| Typical annual savings | 50–70% of the electricity bill | Electricity + gas/oil eliminated |
| Applicable subsidies | Photovoltaics | Photovoltaics + aerothermal (stackable) |
| When to choose it | Recent, efficient heating | Boiler near end of life |
If you are unsure whether your electrical installation can support photovoltaics, our electricians check it during the same visit. And if the project is part of a renovation, we integrate everything into one schedule.
Common questions about solar energy
What subsidies are currently available for solar panels?
Depending on the open calls, national and Generalitat (ICAEN) grants can be combined with municipal IBI and ICIO rebates, which differ in each Alt Penedès municipality. Our free study details the ones that apply to you, and we file them for you.
What happens to the energy I don’t use?
It is fed into the grid and your utility compensates it on your bill (simplified surplus compensation). We handle the registration with the distribution company so compensation is active from the first month.
Is my roof suitable for solar panels?
Most are: south, south-east and south-west orientations work well, and flat roofs are solved with tilted structures. The study assesses the roof’s condition and, if it needs repairing first, we tell you plainly.
How long do installation and legalisation take?
Physical installation takes 1–2 days in a typical home. Legalisation and activation of surplus compensation depend on the utility and usually take 4 to 10 weeks; we follow the process through to the end.
Does aerothermal work in very cold weather?
Yes, modern heat pumps keep good performance well below zero, far below the region’s usual minimums. Correct sizing is what guarantees comfort on the coldest days.
